Can A Thyroid Patient Take Honey And Lime To Reduce Weight?
Hello Doctor, I have thyroid and i have been taking thyrox-50 tablets in the morning, for the past five months. Straight after that i take my tea, without milk. Can i also take lime and honey in the morning to reduce weight? I have heard that lime and honey taken empty stomach causes acidity. Please advice as i also happen to suffer from gas problem. I do not take any other medicine apart from thyrox.
Internal Medicine Specialist, Dr. Ivo Ditah's Response
Hi and thank you so much for this query.
Weight gain while on treatment for a thyroid condition may signal that the drugs are not working right. I will suggest that you get this treatment evaluated by your doctor doing a TSH level and reviewing your symptoms. Honey and lime would not really help. What would help is reduced calories intake, regular exercise and life style modifications.
I hope this helps. I wish you well. Thank you so much for using our services and do feel free to ask for more information and clarifications if need be.
