Can Alchohol And Smoking Cause Hyperthermia With T3 And T4 Levels Normal?
Hi I have been diagnosed with Grave disease and have been taking anti-thyroid pills (thiamazol) for the past 4 months. My T3 and T4 levels are back to normal levels and my TSH is still below the normal range. As my T3 and T4 levels are back to normal levels and will remain with the anti-thyroid pills that I am taking, is my thyroid considered still to not operate and regulate my body properly? My body still feels more warm than before. Moreover, do I have any risk of causing hyperthermia to myself by drinking alcohol, smoking cannabis or doing recreational drugs such as MDMA?
Thank You for posting in HCM. This is good that your T4 ,T3 are normal but you are still feeling warm and moreover TSH is the best marker of thyroid control. You should continue treatment till that control. Please never use alcohol and recreational drugs as they can predispose you to a very serious condition, thyroid storm, which has high death rate if not treated. I hope you are satisfied.Take care and rate this answer please.
