Can Alcohol Withdrawal Cause Stomach Flu Symptoms? Chemical Smell In Stool Can Be An Indicator Of Liver Problems?
1 full day of watery, darkish green diarrea; it smells like formaldehyde. (also vomiting) A stomach flu is going through the household; However, I also quit drinking 4 days ago. (pretty heavily i was drinking for about 18 months, after a decade sober -- age 48.) Should I consider that my flu symptoms are actually alcohol withdrawal? Would the chemical smell in stool be an indicator of liver problems?

This stomach upset is one of the alcohol withdrawal symptoms. Most alcoholics people will have this withdrawal symptoms.
A physician can prescribe medications that will ease discomfort during withdrawals. In most instances such drugs will only be available in a medical setting or when the individual is going through detox in rehab.
Further liver function test is necessary to rule out your liver problems.
