Can Amoxicillin Be Given To A Child For Ear Infection With White Patches On Tongue With History Of Mother Being Allergic To Cilins?

My son has had fever. Doc said possible ear infection. He is 20 months old. He has started his amoxicilin yet. I am highly allergic to cilins. So im hesitant to give to him. Ive also noticed three white patches on his tounge. What are these patches. Should I be concerned with meds giving knowing my background and tgese white patches???

Hi.Thanks for writing on HCM.
I have deeply read your query and totally understand your concern.The white patches on your child's tongue are due to fever(geographic tongue).It will disappear gradually as the fever subsides.
There are only a few cases of penicillin allergy reported with family history I is not a must that he should be allergic since you were allergic.I were to put him on clarithromycin or azithromycin as a precautionary measure.Hope this answers your query.
