Can An Enlarged Prostate Cause Chronic Constipation?

I have chornic constipation. Once I stop taking laxative the problems starts again. It seems that the problem is with nerve as stool pass too slowly through intestine. I have been surffering from this from last ten years. Could this be due to enlarged prostate?
