Hi,I am Dr. Robert Galamaga (Hematologist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
i WAS RECENTLY DIAGNOSED WITH IRON DEFICIENCY ANEMIA. i HAVE BEEN ON IRON SUPPLEMENTS AND THE ANEMIA IS ALMOST COMPLETELY GONE. when I first learned about the anemia I started experiencing swelling in my ankles and feet. My physcians said that the swelling was caused by the anemia. I was put on diuretics and the swelling is now gone. I have never had swelling of my ankles and feet before this and I had never heard of it being caused by anemia. Is this quite common?
Welcome to HCM. Dear friend , your doctor is correct. In anemia patients also present with swelling and edema. It is quite common in anemic patient so no need to worry about it. Take care of your diet so there should not be further iron deficiency in future. Thanx for query.
