Can Anxiety Have Led To Difficulty In Breathing?

I have difficulty breathing and feel like crappy after a night of drinking, trouble swallowing food without liquid to push it down, anxiety attacks and wake up occasionally not breathing. Been going on for a few months now. Been to 20 doctors and they don't know why.

Hello and welcome to Healthcare Magic. Thanks for your query.

I understand that you must be going through a difficult time with your anxiety attacks and difficulty in breathing and swallowing. Now, it is important to understand that anxiety can present with not only psychological symptoms but also with physical or somatic symptoms. Difficulty in breathing, trouble swallowing, etc. are symptoms which are indeed commonly seen in anxiety disorders.

Moreover, you say that you have already seen about 20 doctors and haven't been diagnosed to have any serious medical condition. So, I think you need to seek professional help to deal with your anxiety.

So, I would advise you to consult a psychiatrist for a detailed psychological assessment and further treatment. There are effective treatment options for anxiety - in the form of medication or counselling / psychotherapy which will help you overcome your symptoms.
