Can Anything Be Done To Speed Up The Recovery After A Bypass Surgery?

My friend is recovering from bypass surgery. The incisions on his legs (from the veins that were removed) are healing fine, but slow. No infection. Anything he can to to speed up the recovery? The staples were removed about 4 days ago. Surgery was 2.5 weeks ago, he s feeling pretty good overall, just unable to do much walking due to his soar legs.
