Can Azithromycin Cause White Residue In Penis And Crack In Foreskin?
hi i am using azithromycin 500 mg 2 times a day as i am suffering from typhoid ...over the last few days i am getting this white residue type substance in on my penis and also some very thin cracks have come on my foreskin and i am finding it very difficult to pull back my foreskin. Please advise
Suggestive of antibiotic induced fungal infection. Based on the history you seem to be suffering from fungal infection of the foreskin apparently caused by the antibiotic azithromycin. I advise you to use the over-the-counter anti-fungal medication like clotrimazole cream over the affected area. I also advise you to clean your penis regularly, avoid using perfumed soaps or shower gels on your genitalia, make sure you dry your penis properly after washing and wear loose-fitting cotton underwear.
Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Mohammed Taher Ali, General & Family Physician
