Can Blood Thinners Be Started Post Choleocystectomy?
I had my gallbladder taken out November 26, 2015 then a couple weeks later had enternal bleeding through my alteries from having to thicken my blood for surgery. I am on a blood thinner because of a mitero value replacement. When can I start to regain my strength
Thanks for asking at Healthcare magic. I read your question and I understand your concern. Post Mitral valve replacement blood thinners are mandatory to avoid stroke, peripheral embolism etc. If you have enteral bleeding and that has stopped wait for two weeks. Take high dose proton pump inhibitors like omeprazole 40 mg once daily and then restart as per guidelines. Do daily PT/APTT INR if you are on warfarin to avoid its bleeding complications and bring it in target range. Hope it helps best.
