Can Bronchitis Cause Ear Infection?

I had a 2 month bout with acute bronchitis after cleaning mildew with bleach. The bronchitis seems to have subsided but now I have middle ear effusion with an ear infection. My Primary Care Dr. has put me on azythromicin for the infection. Is the bronchitis causing this ear problem?
