Can Change Of Altitude Cause Dizziness ?

We just moved from Kentucky, to the dessert in California. We have been here for about a week, and I have been feeling weak, nauseous, light headed, low -grade headaches, and swollen ankles and feet. Is this due to a change in the altitude? Or the dry climate and high heat?

Hello!

Welcome on Healthcaremagic!

Some of your symptoms could be related to the change in altitude. Anyway, I would recommend consulting with your GP and performing some tests to investigate for other possible causes which may mimic this situation:
- a chest X ray study
- a cardiac ultrasound
- complete blood count
- blood electrolytes
- PCR and sedimentation rate.
Meanwhile, I recommend taking plenty of water to stay well hydrated.
Hope you will find this answer helpful!
Best wishes, Dr. Aida
