Can Chemotherapy Be Continued After Suffering A Stroke?

My mother suffered several ischemic strokes over the past 5 days. They have not detected anything in the heart or arteries and are assuming hypercoagulation was the source of the strokes. She has metastatic pancreatic cancer and has tried several courses of chemotherapy. She began treatment with Abraxane last week. The neurologist has told her that she will have to take an aspirin a day (at the very least). My question is: Will my mother be able to continue with her chemotherapy after suffering a stroke?

Hi,

Thank you for posting your query.

I have noted your mother's symptoms and agree that hyper coagulability due to cancer could be the cause of stroke.

Aspirin tablets would be helpful in preventing ischemic strokes in future.

She would also be able to continue her chemotherapy for cancer, along with aspirin.

I hope my answer helps. Please get back if you have any follow up queries or if you require any additional information.

Wishing you good health,
