Can Combination Of Formonide And Combitie Be Taken For Asthma?

My mother (62 years) is suffering from asthma since 25 years. It was very well controlled by combitide-125 since 4-5 years without any tablets. Since 6 months the combitide-125 is not effectively working for her in the climate of north India (native place), But when she comes to Bangalore, it works again very effectively in Bangalore. However. the combination of formonide 400 and levolin inhaler works for her to a some extent in northern region of India. Northern region is extremely chill in winter and extremley hot in summer. Bangalore is moderate temperature with cloudy wheather. Can you please suggest what she should do? Can she use the combination of formonide 400 and combitide 125?

Hi,

Formonide 400 inhaler contains both formoterol and budesonide which is used to relieve the long term symptoms of asthma and COPD. It makes breathing easier. The medicine works by inhibiting the release of certain chemical messengers that would cause inflammation and relaxes the muscles in the airways.

Combitide 125 inhaler contains both salmeterol and fluticasone which is used to treat asthma including wheezing or shortness of breath and chronic obstructive pulmonary disorder or COPD. It helps to open the airways and make it easier to breathe. The effect of this medication may be noticeable after a few days but will only reach its maximum after a few weeks. It must be used regularly to be effective, so go on taking it even if someone doesn't have any symptoms. If someone stops taking it, his or her asthma or COPD may get worse.

Two combination inhalers containing two different medications are currently licensed for asthma or COPD like Formonide that contains formoterol with budesonide and Combitide which contains salmeterol with fluticasone etc. If someone thinks these medications aren't sufficient to control his or her asthma status, then she or he should consult the prescribing doctor promptly.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
