Can Depo Cause Back Pains With Stomach Cramps?

my daughter starting taking the depo shot around april 2011. she has started having some pains on her left side now moving around into her back.. she has done nothing to hurt her back, xrays show nothing, then we go to trying to see if anything different started bout same time as pain in her left side.. could this be from the depo.. she is having bad stomach cramps, shortness of breath, etc since the shot.. could pain in her side be the shot?

Hi,

Depo Provera is a birth control method that s given as a shot to women. It is also known as contraceptive injection or birth control shot. It is a man made hormone, medroxyprogesterone that is similar to the natural female hormone progesterone. It works for up to 12-14 weeks. You have to get it every 12 weeks to get full protection against pregnancy.

Side effects of Depo Provera are back pain, muscle pain, joint pain, stomach cramps, stomach upset, indigestion, heartburn, shortness of breath, chest tightness, uneven menstrual periods or no periods at all, headache, sweating, dizziness, acne, changes in appetite, weight gain, unusual facial and body hair, hair loss, mood swings, depression, fatigue, spotting or bleeding between periods, fatigue, tiredness, weakness, changes in sleep pattern, rashes, acnes, delayed wound healing, easily brushing or bleeding, bloating, allergic reactions etc. If these side effects persist for long or bother you, then you should consult with your doctor promptly for medical help.
