Can Elevated Prolactin Level Result Into Substantial Weight Gain?

My daughter, 24 was recently diagnosed with elevated prolactin levels. She has gained a great deal of weight. She also has been diagnosed with a hypo active thyroid. Can the high prolactin be a contributing factor to substantial weight gain. 60 lbs in 5 years

Elevated prolactin is not typically associated with weight gain, however as you may already know, a slow metabolism and weight gain are common effects of an under active or hypo thyroid. Is she taking thyroid hormone replacement and monitored to be sure it is sufficient? I hope this answers your concern.
