Can Exercise Levels Require Change In Thyroxine Dosage?
Hello. I'm 41, male. I had a thyroidectomy (radiated iodine) about seven years ago. Have been on 150mg thyroxine 6 days per week and 200 mg for one day. Have been exercising (jogging 3-4x/week) for past 16 months, no problems. Two days ago, went for 10k run. Less than 24 hours later, feel hot, sweaty, occasionally nauseous. Feeling very similar (but milder) to original hyperthyroidism symptoms experienced many years ago prior to thyroidectomy. Most recent bloods (four months ago) were fine. Could exercise levels require change in thyroxine dosage ( possibly higher)? Thanks.
Welcome to HCM. I had gone through your question and understand your concerns. Thyroxine dose is based on your weight. So unless you have lot of weight change due to exercise, dose need not be altered. You can check your thyroid function tests if you are in doubt.
Good luck
