Hi,I am Diwashish Biswas (Internal Medicine Specialist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
hello ive touched mercury from a thermometer a decade ago and i became ill until now, i suffered memory loss, mental decline weight loss, among others, ive became emf sensitive too which they say might caused by heavy metal or chemical exposure. im suspecting that mercury is behind all this problems i have. the problem is when i tested my mercury it was normal, but im still convinced that mercury has something to do with all this complications.
Mercury is the organic metal that can damage the human cells beyond certain levels. Mercury is found in most the food we eat. Fish is the most common source of mercury. There are several fish with mercury in it. Large fish have more mercury than small fish, because of habit of eating small fish which already have mercury in it. Since, mercury is available in liquid form, it can converts into gaseous form even at room temperature which will be absorbed through lungs.
It can affect the kidney and Lungs. Brain cells are more vulnerable to mercury poisoning. It can cause numbness, muscle weakness, in-coordination of movements, memory loss. Symptoms of mercury poisoning depends on the duration and amount of exposure. Minimal exposure does not cause significant side effects. Physical examination and blood investigations helps to assess the level of mercury poisoning. Visit the emergency department, if there is high amount of mercury exposure.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
