My mother aged 71 , she two months ago undergone a surgery of hip bone and was on catheter for nealy 25 days from 15 Aug she is having UTI previously her report was turbid after undergoing 19 days of antiboitic course her RE / ME is still showing 15-20 pus cells ; 10-12 Epithilial cell ; turbid , pls let me know I can stretch her Antiboitic course till what time
Thank you for posting on HCM. I presume that your mum now is ambulant & also the catheter has been removed. Is she still on antibiotics & if so is it the correct antibiotic that has been prescribed after doing culture & sensitivity testing? - this is very important. If not already done so - best will be to stop a/b she is currently on & then after 2-3 days later send a new sample off to lab - once sensitivity is available do a 7 days course of antibiotics. Extending the current course will cause resistance to develop. Ultrasound of kidneys & bladder must also be done as her infection seems to be a prolonged illness.
