Can Extensive Typing Work Cause Carpal Tunnel Syndrome?

I been diagnose with carpal tunnel by my primary doctor. After several times I mention I was experiencing pain and numbness in my fingers my supervisor never bother with my complaint. Finally she send me to company doctor but the doctor confirmed it not work related. I m a typist for the hospital I work for and do extensive keying for the past 7 years, how can I prove is work related?

Hi,Thanks for your query. After going through your query I came to know that you are diagnose with carpal tunnel. It can be work related as excess movements of wrist can cause swelling in wrist area which in turn increase in pressure in carpal tunnel leading to carpal tunnel syndrome. But cannot be proved solely due to it because it may be due to other cause of it. You can discuss with your treating Doctor about it. I do hope that you have found something helpful. If you have additional questions or follow up queries then please do not hesitate in writing to us. I will be happy to answer your queries. Wishing you good health. Take care.
