Can Finasteride Cause Side Effects Related To Sexual Activity?

hello.i am a 24 years boy from iran.its about 10 years that i suffer hair loss.i used maynoksidil, finastride,ecophane but i didnt see any effect.i heard in a magazine about side effects of finastride which leads to sexual and cognitive problems.and its about 2 years that i am using levotiroxyne and fekoxetin 10mg one per day.i feel some of sexual side effects of finastride in my relation.its about 5 month that i stoped using finastride.what do u recomend me???thanks

Hi,

Finasteride is used to treat benign prostatic hyperplasia or benign enlargement of prostate and male pattern hair loss with increased hair growth. Studies show that Finasteride is safe to use over the long term but a low percentage of men taking Finasteride experience some side effects including decreased sex drive, trouble getting an erection, smaller ejaculate volume, erectile dysfunction, decreased libido, increased breast size, breast tenderness, testicular pain, emotionally flat, loss of focus, memory impairment, loss of concentration, depression, anxiety, anger, lack of motivation, suicidal tendencies, mood swings etc. Studies show that the men who take this medications are 5 times more prone to develop decreased libido and erectile dysfunction. But the majority of research shows that these sexual side effects are reversed when the drug is withdrawn. For erectile dysfunction or premature ejaculation, Sildenafil like Viagra may be a good choice as treatment.
