Can Frequent Urination In A Teenager Of 6 Feet Mean Undergrown Bladder?

My son had a huge growth spurt between age 11-13 (10inches!) It seems like his bladder did not keep up with his growth - he has frequent urination. We ve taken him to drs. and they haven t found anything wrong. Is it possible that his bladder is small for his height (he s 6 feet tall)? Will his bladder continue togrow as he ages so that problem may disappear? (he s 14 yr. old now)

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

The internal body organs develop simultaneously as the pace of height and the issue of small bladder is not the cause.

There can be issues with diabetes, recurrent urinary infection, contractility, sphincters or posterior urethral valves responsible for the same.

In my clinic, I do recommend CT IVP as non-invasive measure and later on if required diagnostic cystoscopy for final diagnosis and cure in accordance with that.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Bhagyesh V. Patel, General Surgeon
