Can Gabapentin Help To Treat Persistent Coughing With Vomiting?

I have had long term coughing problems with all tests eliminating likely causes. The cough begins suddenly and can last until I nearly vomit. The social aspect is very upsetting and a friend sent an article re the use of gabapentin. Do you have any information about this application.

Hello,
Welcome to HCM and thanks for your query.
There are studies published in well respected medical journals like The Lancet, where good efficacy has been shown by Gabapentin in reducing chronic cough for which no obvious cause was found.
So I think it is worth a try in you.
Start with a small dose like 300 mg at bed time and work up if necessary up to 1800 mg per day.
It is relatively safe and side effects are not many.
Wish you good health
I shall be happy to answer any queries
