Can Gastric By-pass Surgery Be Performed If Suffering From Stomach Pain?

Hello, I am scheduled for a gastric by-pass in 2 weeks. I have been having a lot of stomach pain I think comming from gastritis. I had an endoscopy 3 years ago and was told I have gastritis. This pain is very similar to what I feel when it flares up. Could this prevent my surgery? For a while? For ever?

Hi thanks for asking question.

While performing endoscopy had your doctor taken biopsy from gastritis area??

You can have chronic gastritis from H.pylori like organism also.Urea breath test can be done for it.If it comes positive then treated with clarithromycin, amoxycillin , omeprazole.

Although chances rare gastric biopsy may reveal inflammatory bowel disease like changes also.

Biopsy may reveal non specific gastritis.

Omeprazole useful in reducing acidity.

After controlling gastritis your operation for gastric bypass can be done.

You have not mentioned reason for bypass.
If it needed urgently because of some of obstruction then can be done in urgently.

I hope you will understand my concern.
