Hi,I am Dr. Alexander H. Sheppe (Psychiatrist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
On Wednesday night, I performed oral sex on my boyfriend until I remembered I had a small, fluid-like blister that had been unopened on the left side of my bottom lip. He did not ejaculate because I discontinued soon after once I realized that a person can contract genital herpes (HSV-2) through oral sex with someone who has oral herpes (HSV-1), which is what I have. Immediately after he thoroughly washed his genital area with soap and water. However, I m not exactly sure if what I have is or isn t a cold sore since it just developed late Monday night (I believe) and it is already disappearing quite rapidly. Also, it had never even burst or seeped out any fluid. Is he safe?
Yes he is safe. Herpesvirus 1 and 2 are different viruses of same family herpes viridae. Herpes labialis doesn't result in infection of genital herpes. So there is no reason of fear.
Thanks
