Hi,

It is generally not recommended to give more than one dose of Dimetapp within 6 hours as it may increase the risk of side effects such as drowsiness, dizziness, nausea, and vomiting. However, in your case, it seems like you gave the first dose of Dimetapp at 6.00 am and the second dose of ibuprofen at 10.45 am, which is a 4-hour gap, and then another dose of ibuprofen at 3 pm, which is a 4.25-hour gap.

While it is best to follow the recommended dosing intervals, the 15-minute difference between the second dose of ibuprofen and the 4-hour gap is unlikely to cause harm.

It is important to monitor your child's temperature and symptoms and follow the recommended dosing instructions on the medication label. If your child's symptoms persist or worsen, or if you have any concerns about their health, it is recommended to consult a healthcare provider.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Priyanka, General & Family Physician
