hi Sir , my mother is a sugar patient & normally she takes glynase mf before breakfast, but today she mistakenlly took GLIMISAVE FORTE. after taking the same she is feeling drowsy, which is very strange. just wanted to confirm that GLIMISAVE FORTE can cause drowsy also
Tab glimisave contains glimiperide. Glimiperide is per se not known to cause drowsiness as a side effect But it definitly may cause hypoglycemia i.e. low sugar levels which may be reflected as drowsiness. Other symptoms of hypoglycemia may include sweating, dryness of mouth, irrelevant talks etc. So my opinion is that drowsiness caused by the glimiperide should not be taken lightly. Do her blood sugar levels if you have glucometer, and if sugars found to be low then give her sugar or sugar based liquids to drink. If glucometer is not with you give her one or two table spoon of sugar & observe response & take her to the doctor. As hypoglycemia sometimes may be life threatening it should not be neglected.
