Can Humans Get Heart Worms ?

Okay so you may think this is a stupid question, and if you do, please do not tell me that you think it is a stupid question because I dont really need to know that. My dog has heart worms and my friend told me it starts from fleas. I dont know if that is true, but my dog sleeps with me at night and now I am wondering if I could have had fleas on me at some point. Could I get heart worms from it or what? Confused!

Humans are not a natural host for heart worm, but there have been a few rare reports of human cases. In humans, the heart worm is usually found as a single worm in the lung versus the heart. Mosquitoes are the vector (carriers) for heartworms.
