Can Hydrocortisone Be Applied On Waterproof Bandage And Put On Eyelid?
Hey Doctor, ive developed skin irritation on my right eye lid only. skin is peeling, also dry, itching and red. ive applied hydrocortisone, however its labelled do not use under waterproof bandages , but this is exactly what i did otherwise the cream just runs down my face unless i lie down, is it ok to put the cream on a bandage then put on my eye lid right? thank you
Hydrocortisone is a steroid medication used to treat skin conditions such as itching, redness, and inflammation. It is generally safe to apply hydrocortisone cream on the skin, including the eyelids, but it is important to follow the instructions on the label or as directed by your doctor.
The label of the hydrocortisone cream you are using warns against using it under a waterproof bandage because it can increase the absorption of the medication and lead to side effects such as thinning of the skin. However, if you need to cover the affected area to prevent the cream from rubbing off, you can use a non-waterproof bandage or gauze.
It is always best to consult with your healthcare provider for personalized advice on the use of medications and treatment of skin conditions, especially when it comes to the sensitive area around the eyes.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
