Can Hysterectomy Lead To Insomnia, Hot Flashes And Abdominal Pain?

I had a TAH 9 mos ago (kept cervix and ovaries) and am still having some pain and numbness in my abdomen below my navel. Some times I have to take OTC pain killers to east the pain. In addition, I have bloating issues, problems sleeping, night sweats, insomnia and hot flashes. Is this normal???

OBGYN, Maternal and Fetal Medicine 's  Response
Hi,

Yes. I think hysterectomy can lead to these symptoms because you have reached menopause early due to hysterectomy, vitamin supplements containing isoflavones may be required for this condition along with hormonal support.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Sujoy S. Bhattacharjee, OBGYN, Maternal and Fetal Medicine
