Can I Continue Taking Mag.Citrate Up To Night Before Surgery?

Undergoing general anesthesia for shoulder replacement - told to discontinue all meds and supplements 7-10 days prior to sx. Need to continue Metoprolol, but wonder about Mag. Citrate. Take one 250 mg geltab in the evening for bm s. Can I continue to take up to night before surgery?

Hello,
Yes, it should be fine to continue to take the mag citrate up until the surgery but you want to avoid taking it withing 24 hours of the surgery so you may just need to skip one dose
