Can I Give Hydromet Syrup To A 7 Year Old Girl For Non Stop Coughing?

Hi, I have a 7 yr. old granddaughter who just will not stop coughing, which is causing her to vomit...it is non-stop...I have some hydromet syrup and was wondering if I can give her a small amt....otherwise, it will probably have to be a trip to the ER

Hi

Vomiting after a bout of cough indicates that she has a wheeze.
She needs bronchodilators like Salbutamol (Albuterol) or Levosalbutamol or Terbutaline.

Hydromet syrup is a cough suppressant and is not indicated in a child with wheeze.

If you have bronchodilators at home you may give them in the correct dosage or a trip to the ER will be better. The doctor will listen to the chest and give medications accordingly.
If its severe the doctor will recommend Nebulization too.

Hope my answer helps.
Best wishes.
