Can I Give More Formula Feed To Increase Weight Of Infant?

My baby had not gained weight during the first month, weight is same as birth weight 3.1kg. after consulting we came to know it is because of high water in the formula we gave. Now we have corrected the formula and he is on breast feeding as well. Can we give more formula feed to increase weight? Please advice.

Hi,

Thanks for writing to health care magic.
I can understand your concern.

A baby should be exclusively breast fed till 6 months of age. Breast feeding is important as this contains the right things required for the baby in right proportions at the right time. It is ideal for brain growth. Breast milk prevents various infections like loose motions, respiratory infections, etc.

so try to breast feed your baby instead of giving a formula

Continue to ask further queries as required.
Hope this helps.
Take care.
