Can I Give More Than 5 Ml Of Fever Reducer To 2 Year Old?
My almost 2 year old son has had a fever all day in the 100 s. I gave him 5ml of children s fever reducer 3 hours ago, and it seemed to help he dropped to 99.8 for a couple hours. The bottle said do not give them more than 5 ml in 24 hours. But now he Is back up to a 101.6. The doctors are closed and I don t want his temp to continue to go up while he is sleeping. What should I do?
Hi... the fever medicines are available in different strengths. As drops (100mg/ml) and as suspensions (125mg/5ml and 250mg/5ml). It all depends on the strength of the medicine you are using.
Paracetamol can be given in the dose of 15mg/kg/dose (maximum ceiling dose of 500mg) every 4-6th hourly that too only if fever is more than 100F. I suggest not using combination medicines for fever, especially with Paracetamol.
