Can I Stop Taking Hormone Replacement And Change Diet After Thyroid Removal?

My thyroid was removed due to a cancerous growth. Is it true that you can stop taking hormone replacement and just change your diet? I am NOT buying into that! Someone tried to tell me I could just stop taking it and take better care of my nutrition.. I disagreed. Help separate Fact from Fiction if you can.

Hello,
Good day.
Please ignore such advises. You had your thyroid removed and has no production of thyroid hormones. This means that you have to take levothyroxine for life long. There are many types of thyroid cancers and few types require a higher dose of levothyroxine to keep TSH suppressed. If the TSH ( thyroid stimulating hormone) level goes high, there is a chance of recurrence of cancer
