Hello thanks for asking from HCM for your health related queries

I can understand your concern. You were taking Cymbalta or Duloxetine 60 mg for hot flashes and now advised to take Escitalopram. You developed edema with Paroxetine. Paroxetine is a SSRI drug and some times due to anticholinergics side effects it can cause fluid retention and thus results in edema. Escitalopram is not associated with anti-cholinergic side effects and so not associated with edema as side effect. So in my opinion there is no need to afraid from edema with escitalopram. You can take the drug as per prescription without any fear.

Thanks, Hope this helps you.

Take care
