Can I Take Co-codamol After Being Scheduled For A Colonoscopy?

I take co-codamol for both my back problem and at present have a prolapsed bowel. I am due to have a colonoscopy on Monday and am going to be taking moviprep tomorrow. Can I carry on with the co-codamol or do I need to stop taking whilst on the preparation

HI, thanks for using healthcare magic

Co codamol is a combination of paracetamol and codeine.

Codeine can cause constipation in some persons but it is not contraindicated (cannot be used) in bowel prep.

You can continue to use unless advised to discontinue by your doctor.

I hope this helps
