Can Intercourse Soon After Cervix Cauterization Cause Serious Problems?
3 weeks ago I had a laparoscopy/cystoscopy/colposcopy done, where I had endometriosis removed, my urethra widened and my cervix cauterised. I ve had laparoscopies before but this was the first time I ve had my cervix cauterised. No one told me when I could return to intercourse, so I just presumed it was similar to the last times and this evening I had sex with my partner. I am now in absolute agony, my lower abdomen is heavily swollen and even morphine isn t helping with my pain. I have since read that I should have waited 6 weeks to have sex after I had my cervix cauterised. Have I now done some serious damage? Or will things be okay? Many thanks.
Hello, Thanks for letting us know your health concern. There is no absolute need to wait for 6 weeks after the procedure to resume regular sexual intercourse. The pain is not consistent with the procedure and I would ask you to have a specialist look into it. You would need a sonogram of the pelvis preferably in the trans-vaginal route to detect the cause of the pain. Take adequate rest and maintain proper genital hygiene. Hope you find this information useful. Wish you good health.
