Can Intubation Cause A Sore Throat And A Runny Nose?
hi, i had to be intubated 3 weeks ago after a severe od. i lost my voice and was extremly sore for couple of days after. now my throat is extremly sore and find it hard to swallow, i also have runny nmse and dry cough. would please like to know if this could be related to being intubated? thank you

Difficult intubation is usually followed by sore throat and dry cough which may even take weeks to resolve. It occurs due to inadvertent injury to the mucosal lining of the throat during intubation. I am not sure about the running nose. It is more likely to be due to withdrawal from the drugs you took or if you were given any opioid analgesics. Steam inhalation will help with the sore throat.
