Its usually the deficiency of progesterone that can lead to miscarriage, Other causes are severe chromosomal anomalies, lack of thyroxine hormone, intra uterine infections. Malformations of the uterus also lead to abortions. hope that answers the query

The lack or low levels of hormones like progesterone;HCG(human chorionic gonadotrophin) can cause misscarriage and so in such females it is necessary to give the supplements of these hormones when trying for pregnancy and during pregnancy.
