Can Lack Of Nutrients Be The Only Reason For Continuous Menstruation?
hello, this is about my menstrual cycle. i am 16 and my period started around 5th grade. it was never ever regular. for the first 3 years it was very light, never had cramps then it started getting heavy and the cramps would be so bad that i would sometimes vomit and feel very light headed and weak. my period would come almost every other month, i once didn't have it for 3 months. i had a ultra sound a few months ago and my doctor said everything was fine but for the last 2 months almost 3 months my period has been coming non-stop. i called my doctor and she told me that i wasnt getting my nutrients but i feel like its more serious than that. i did a little bit of research and im scared i might have pcos? my mom knows my problem but she doesnt think i need to be checked. she thinks i should drink more herbs and natural things instead of going to the doctor. what should i do? is it possible i may have pcos? or any other disease? please respond to me, i'm very scared and my mom doesnt understand how serious it may be.
Hello. Thanks for the query to H.C.M. Forum. Since you are having so heavy periods and also irregular . so may be anemia developed due to all these . But the root cause of problem in young age 16 years is concerning. May be due to . 1 PCOD or Poly Cystic Ovarian Disease , this is the most common cause of irregular bleeding . Diagnosis can be confirmed by ultrasound of ovaries . 2 Hormonal imbalance is the another most important cause , diagnosis can be confirmed by blood examination for estrogen , androgen fsh/lh ratio. 3 Tumor in uterus is also one of the most important cause . Diagnosis can be confirmed by ultrasound of uterus . In my opinion first of all consult your mother and then consult gynecologist and explain whole situation. In my opinion any nutrition will nor cure the disease , however it can improve. Good luck. Dr. HET
