Can Lack Of Vitamins Cause Eyesight Problem For A Child?

hi doctors,this is louis from bhubaneswar(Odisa). My son,age 2 years and 5 months.rcently he has some eye problems. when consulted to eye specialist ,it is found that he is having sight problems (- 1.75 and -1.70) what could be the reasons ? kindly advise . is it due to want of vitamins

Thanks for the query.

Defieciency of vitamins particularly vitamin -A is responsible for night blindness.
Also vitamin "B12" and "D" are needed for good eyesight.
So you can say that lack of vitamins can cause eyesight problem.

But in your case, The minus sign shows you are short sighted (near sighted , myopic).
It is a type of refraction error, inherited form parents.
Use spects, or lenses, atropine drops after consulting with your doctor that will improve the sight.
Vision will usually stabilizes in their 20s when their eyes have finished growing.
