Can Long Term Usage Of Codeine Lead To Liver Or Kidney Damage?

I am a 74 year old male that has been taking codeine 3 for over two years now. I take one to two pills daily as needed for various medical conditions. My concern relates to damage to my liver/kidneys over a long period of time. Can someone give me some advise or opinion concerning this question. Thanks in advance, Bill

Hello
You are taking CODEINE for 3 years and your only concern is effect of codeine to liver and kidneys ( if prolong use ).
Addiction is major side effect , you know .
Codeine contains 0.5 % opium while morphine 10 %( compare these two )
Liver , codeine causes spasm of sphincter of Oddi in liver ( that too mild degree).
Kidneys :Tone of both detrusor & sphincter is increased but only in urinary bladder not in kidney .
This is scientifically proven that codeine don't develop any side effect to liver or kidneys even after prolong use .
