Can Long Term Use Of Birth Control Cause Any Trouble In Conceiving?

Hi I am 21 years old and on Trip Sprintec for the first time, I missed, well not missed but I took my pill late the last couple weeks, I started BC May 4 and that Friday I did not take it until Saturday, I double dosed and the following week I took my BC late again but took it asap, and this being the 3rd week I took it again late, will I be okay? No pregnancy chance? I also am concerned about in the future being able to get pregnant, I have not had any other birth control before besides taking Plan b , I was wanting to be sure that if I do stop taking this BC in the future will I have trouble conceiving?

Hello,

Long-term use of the pill doesn't affect your fertility. Most women who've been taking the combined oral contraceptive pill conceive within a year of stopping the pill. In fact, if you have been taking the pill, your chances of getting pregnant are about the same, or perhaps better than average.

Try to take your contraceptive pill as advised by your doctor and if you miss a dose, take it as soon as possible.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Prabhash Verma,
