Can Lower Range Of T3 Hormone Be Symptom Of Hypothyroidism?

i m 23 yrs old..i got tested fr thyroid..my tsh n t4 wre normal bt t3 hormone ws at d lower side of normal range..as 2.30 to 4 ws normal..so mine ws 2.40 n dat day my periods started ven i got tested..do i need to d d test agin.??n i hv some symptoms of hypothyroidism dat s weight gain, and i cnt tolerate cold..n my face looks lil puffy lso..my height s 5.6 n i weigh 65 kgs..do i need to wrry??

HI..

Thanks for contacting HCM for health query.

You are 23 yrs old and worried about weight gain ,facial puffiness had investigation for thyroid worried about low T3 level with normal T4 and TSH level.

Of all the three hormones TSH is the most sensitive one and it is the first one to get altered first except in specific conditions like secondary hypothyroidsm.T3 is normal only though in low normal do not worry.


If still in doubt undergo free hormone assay FREE T3 and FREE T4.That is the active hormone.
