Can Marijuana Consumption Affect Implanon?

Hi, I'm 19 years of age with a good medical history. Last night I went to a party where they made marijuana cookies and I wasn't informed that they had anything in them like this, and I didn't know the host was a medical patient. That night I became really sick, and today i'm better. Just a little tummy ache, but i'm on Implanon. With this incident effect my implanon?

Hello,

Implanon is an effective form of birth control. However, it does not control against STDs and STIs. Taking marijuana in any form may interfere with your brain function and may cause you to choose lifestyle that may get you exposed to risk of sexually transmitted diseases. For extra protection and efficacy you should always use condoms. You are suggested not to use any recreational products that make you goofy. You will always want to have a sound mind and sound decision making capacity.
