Can Medication For High Blood Pressure Cause Blurred Vision?

Can medication for high blood pressure cause blurred vision? I am 93 and my Ilast check was 150/90 The medication I have been prescribed is Felopidine and Bosvate - I also take aspirin which I have had for the last 20 years. I had Bendrofluazide for the last 20 odd years but that was recently replaced by Felopidine I already have prisms for double vision, but this blurring is something new.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

In my opinion, it is not the medication but the high blood pressure itself that can cause the blurred visions. This is especially true if you have had high blood pressure for a long time.

I would advise a visit to your ophthalmologist to do a fundoscopy and rule out any conditions there. Additionally it may be worthwhile to check your blood sugar levels.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Pranav Balakrishnan
