Can Meftal P Be Taken Before 8 Hours Of Earlier Dose?
my10 month old daughter has runny nose, and fever reached 104 F today afternoon, gave calpol,sponged with col water fever reduced .Our doctor prescribed calpol for fever below 101 F and Meftal P for fever above 101F , and zinsy for her loose motions , but later in the night daughter vomitted twice and refused to take water. Her fever reduced after having MEFTTAL P but has again started increasing. Is it safe to give Meftal P before a time interval of 8 hours of earlier dose? What should be done to reduce her fever in those 8 hours?

Meftal-P contains Mefenamic acid which is a NSAID. It carries the risk of gastritis and renal problems in the long run. Please do not use Meftal-P.
Fever of four days without any localizing signs could as well a viral illness. Usually rather than fever, what is more important is the activity of the child, in between 2 fever episodes on the same day. If the kid is active and playing around when there is no fever, it is probably viral illness and it doesn't require antibiotics at all. Once viral fever comes it will there for 4-7 days. So do not worry about duration if the kid is active.
Paracetamol can be given in the dose of 15mg/kg/dose every 4-6th hourly that too only if fever is more than 100F. I suggest not using combination medicines for fever, especially with Paracetamol.
