Can Meftal Spas Drops Given To A Child With Hard, Painful Stomach?

Hi, my 16month old daughter has been crying on and off for the past few hours due to stomach pain. her tummy seems slightly hard. I gave colicaid an hour back but it hasnt helped. Can I give her meftal spas drops? Her weight is around 10kilos. Thank you.

Hello,
I have gone through your query and understand your concern.

As both Colicaid and Meftal spas contain the same chemical or drug called Simethicone. In addition Meftal spas contain Dicyclomine , an Antispasmodic.
You should not give with in one hour of the previous dose.

You can continue any of the drug.
Better prescribed by your treating Pediatrician.
You can give these drops up to 4 times per day at well spaced intervals and it is better to give 15 minutes before feeding.
At this age, it is very common to have indigestion and stomach problems.
Give her well grounded and mashed foods.
Try introduce new foods slowly.
Give her plenty of fruits and well cooked vegetables.

If the stomach pain is persisting for more than a day, then you should consult your treating physician.
