Can Meloxicam Pill Cause Severe Stomach Pain And Bloating?

My doctor recently prescribed 7.5 meloxicam/pill. It had some positive effects on the RA pain but about 9 days into the medication I started experiencing severe stomach pain and bloating. I stopped taking the med (told my doctor) and the stomach stopped hurting. If I took the suspension instead of a pill would it be gentler on my stomach

hi
Welcome to HCM,
Meloxicam can cause above symptoms. Even suspension will cause the same problem, unless you reduce the dose . If you reduce the dose, it may not be effective. Your Doctor may ask you to change the timing of pills. If you take it with full glass of water, it can also reduce your side effects. Do not take it empty stomach, and do not lie down immediately after taking your pill. Your Doctor may add some proton pump inhibitors, which can reduce side effects or may advise you other GIT friendly medicines.
hope you got your answer.
